Sky Diving?

Apparently I'm the only one in the family that is a scaredy-cat. I've pretty much always been that way, although at one time, I would actually put myself on a roller coaster by the strength of my own free will. That was then, this is now. Now, I will not put myself on a major roller coaster and I have near panic attacks just watching my son get in the line for one. Now, I see the danger in everything, and I don't miss a minutes opportunity to pray......um, or worry about it. Those of you who don't know me that well should know that I hold the record for the most "full clothing jumps"-scratch that-"SAVES" into the pool for a child who had even the slightest appearance of struggling. I've done it at my parents, and two different friends houses.....more than once. All the kids were fine, although I'd like to think that my full clothing heroics made some sort of difference.

Anyway, all that to say that when my brother told me he was going skydiving I nearly passed out. He told me his jump was to be Sunday at 1:00. I said many a prayers, and at 12:50 on Sunday I announced to Brad that Scott was about 10 minutes away from shear death....um, I mean jumping.

He survived it and he loved it, and he posted a video on his site that I thought you might like to see. While we were watching it, Sara Kate said, "let's not do that." No worries Sara Kate, we won't, and you sure as heck better not change your mind.

Apparently all the "guts" went to Scott, so no wonder I'm a worry wart.

That's pretty cool.
Isn't it funny how different two siblings can be??
My sister: scared to DEATH to fly and heights storms and bugs...
Me: LOVE to fly! LOVE heights! Really can enjoy a good storm. And all throughout our growing up, when she'd see a bug and run off screaming-flailing about... I would just calmly walk over with one of dad's shoes and drop it on the sucker. :)
Now, don't know that I could skydive! Watching the video, as they're approaching the door, my only thought was: Why would anybody do that on purpose?? :) But, I bet it was fun once they took the plunge! I think I'd just have to settle for some sort of skydiving simulator. Get the same rush without the actual risk.

Don't worry Sara Kate. I'll take you when you're 18 and you've changed your mind. Mommy can't say anything then. It's really not that dangerous.
BTW- There's just no way to simulate that same rush/fun. Unless of course it's going 120 on a motorcycle which has it's own risks. :-)

Ok....I just got finished watching it again, and can I say......um, everything "draws up" at the moment your getting to the edge of the plane.

Bryce has been talking about it all day long. Brad has asked him if he wants to do it. His response? Yes, when I get older. (thats my boy).

By the way, did you pick the music. I could have sworn I heard the lyrics say something very similiar to the thought rolling through your mind right as you jumped. (ha ha)

I'm so glad you had it videoed.....I got to "live vicariously" through you. And, now I know without a shadow of a doubt that I'll never do it....and I'll start praying now about the kids.

Glad you did it though......it looks fun (and by that I mean....scary as ****)

Oh goodness! How SUPER COOOOOOOOOOL is THAT???!! The video was awesome! Thanks Scott (& Shana) for sharing with us. Now, I can say that here are where Shana and I differ... I would LOVE to do that. Now, the thing is, do I have the GUTS to do that?! Not yet, but I hope to be able to do that someday. That was SO INCREDIBLY COOL to watch! I had butterflies in my stomach while only WATCHING!!

Scott, that was great! Shana, I am with you on the kids not doing it, but I would like to--- call me crazy, but I think it would be awesome!!

Jimmy and I actually went skydiving last year. It is the biggest rush EVER! It looks like Scott was in a pretty nice plane but for us we it was the scariest part. We were in a rickety old plane with the door open the entire time. Nope you really won't be sucked out!

Oh and like one of your friends said it is wild how siblings can be so different. You know Suzi, she was the first of us girls to go skydiving and then the three of us did one of those bungee sling things together and Jennifer was praying for her salvation the entire time and said she would never do anything like that again.

Loved the video!! I used to want to go sky diving. Now...not so much. Maybe when my kids are grown and I'm needing some adventure in my life. Until then, I'll just watch Scott's video and be adventurous through him. :)

Ahhhh man! Every time I tried to watch the video my computer jammed! Maybe I'll try again later!

My younger sister went several years ago, and I did pray and just tried not to think about it!!! :)

There was a time in my life when I probably would've done it, too. Now, NO. It's amazing what having kids does to you!

I think watching the video made me wanna do it more. That is absolutely too cooooooool. Ken says he's with you Shana and he's just fine living without that.

I didnt pick the second piece of music. I have no idea who or what it is. I can't understand the words at all. But I like the mood of the music. Bryce and I can go when he's 18. (minimum age).

You have NO idea how much fun skydiving is!! We were able to fully support our BFFs the Moncriefs to go while we were all in Hawaii - this only after I took my husband to do it on his 21st birthday. He always said it was one of the top 100 things to do in his life so I provided the opportunity. He was scared and definitely praying the entire time! it was funny

btw - i read your blog quite frequently as I am good friends with Brittany. I used to live in Chattanooga, I went through SETNTD Wkend #25, and my husband and I were their sponsors.
small world, huh?

Just thought you'd like some additional comments - even if they are from a complete stranger ;)
